The perfect combination

“Refreshingly Brazilian, a Bit more exciting”
A promotional beer campaign that I am sure you are enjoying.

Music might be free in Italy.

“The new law, already approved by both legislative houses, indeed says that one is allowed to publish freely, through the Internet, free of charge, images and music at low resolution or “degraded,” for scientific or educational use, and only when such use is not for profit.”
This is a crazy development.

Mystery Science Theater 3000 is back, sort of.

The creator and star of the first 5 seasons of Mystery Science Theater 3000, Joel Hodegson, is back with the whole gang in his new show Cinematic Titanic. Judging from the trailer, it looks great as always.
Check out the site.

Flight of the Conchords

Flight of the Conchords, formerly “New Zealand’s fourth most popular guitar-based digi-bongo acapella-rap-funk-comedy folk duo,” is made up of Bret McKenzie and Jemaine Clement who became the main characters of one of the best TV series ever.

The show, called as the duo, follows their trials and tribulations as they try to make a name for themselves in their adopted home of New York City, hoping for a successful music career, always following an honest, simple, innocent and very refreshing humor.
Yeah, “New Zealand…Rocks!!!”

Gondry and the phone

One of my favorite directors, Michel Gondry (Human Nature, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, The Science of Sleep) as just worked with Motorola on a new spot for a phone.
michel-gondry.jpg The website where you can find it also follows Gondry’s inventive visual style and his famous manipulation of mise en scène. Visionary as always!

What Did I Do?

Last month, a University of Florida student was arrested during a forum with John Kerry while asking if he and Bush were members of the secret society Skull and Bones at Yale University.

While struggling with about -six- police officers when they tried to remove him from the session, he was Tasered and sent to jail. Police recommended charges of resisting arrest with violence, a felony, disturbing the peace and interfering with school administrative functions.
He asked for help, but most of the audience sat quietly while watching the absurd and abusive dispute.

Gore Vidal

I like what he says in the last two minutes…

Big media takeover

Postal regulators have accepted a proposal from media giant Time Warner that would stifle small and independent publishers in America. The plan unfairly burdens smaller publishers with higher postage rates while locking in special privileges for bigger media companies.
In establishing the U.S. postal system, the nation’s founders wanted to ensure that a diversity of viewpoints were available to “the whole mass of the people.” Time Warner’s rate increase reverses this egalitarian ideal and threatens the marketplace of ideas on which our democracy depends.
